Spiral Mountain By Tonkin Liu

spiral-mountain2Spiral Mountain – Tonkin Liu Architects

This is a proposed design concept for a Library/Art Gallery. The design gives an illusion of the building floating and is based on a spiral that consists of books and artwork. The spiral allows the visitors a view of all the 350,000 books that surround them and there is private reading and working areas to the side of the library. Above the library is the gallery and spiralling on the outside is a garden area which allows the building to blend within its landscape. The largest central floor is a viewing gallery in which the users can look out onto the city.

This design concept informed my thinking for my RSA Inclusive Living Project.
